The National Environment Trust Fund(NETFUND) spearheaded the Renewable Energy Technologies (RET) Forum held at Nakuru County on 6th -8th December 2017. NETFUND engaged key stakeholders in the County Governments in in-depth discussions on the importance of adopting sustainable technologies for cooking and lighting. The workshop was attended by key officials in the 38 counties. Dr. George Mwaniki, Director for Research, planning and marketing at NETFUND said that the national government  has been holding talks with the Council of Governors on how counties can include clean energy among households in their development plans for the next five years.

Dr. Mwaniki said that the move was driven by the findings of a research done by NETFUND, Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) and World Health Organization (WHO) carried out in Elgeyo- Marakwet, Narok and Tharaka- Nithi Counties on deadly  impact of indoor air pollution.
